‘About me’ paragraphs are awkward to write but let me try to give you a sense of who I am.
I have always loved words. From flash-cards when I was a child to captivating novels that kept me from my homework as a teen. In university, I developed a deep appreciation for reading theoretical work too, as I completed my bachelors degree in film and media production (2012) and swiftly went on to specialize in documentary filmmaking for my honours degree (2013). Thinking my studying days were over, I lectured for a year in Johannesburg until my husband and I decided that big-city life didn’t make us smile much.
We moved to my husband’s hometown and I had the opportunity to begin my masters degree (UCT), specializing in television theory. I passed with a distinction. One of my goals is to complete my PhD but for now, we are raising a family.
One of my favourite parts of writing my dissertation was editing and proofreading my own work. However, it became obvious that it was imperative a professional go over my work and make it the best it could possibly be. This got me thinking about how much I would enjoy reading different texts and helping someone TWEAK their work into its best version. It took me no time to enroll and complete a training course in this field.
I know how daunting it can be to hand over your work. Trust me, I’ve been there! But I guarantee that I will be friendly, honest and efficient.
As you’ll see above, editing is how I started my business and as I’ve gained clients and developed friendships, I’ve branched into writing. It started with editing clients asking if I’d mind writing for them because they had seen how trustworthy I was with their work, time and money.
I’ve always wanted to write but I didn’t know how to get started. Since beginning the writing side of my business, I’ve worked on emails, podcast notes, magazine articles, and a very many blog articles (countless).
